HitCalc is a free financial calculator platform built for real people — not finance professionals, not investors with advisors, not people who already know the jargon. Just people trying to make better decisions with their money.
Why we built this
Every mortgage calculator we tried was either buried under ads, required a signup, pushed you toward a lender before showing you a number, or gave you a payment estimate with zero explanation of what was in it.
We wanted to know: how much of that monthly payment is actually going to principal? What does FHA mortgage insurance actually cost? If I pay $200 extra a month, how many years does that save? What does my savings balance actually look like in today's dollars after inflation?
Nobody answered those questions cleanly. So we built the calculators we wished existed — and made them free.
The story behind our logo
Every other financial tool shows you charts, numbers, and graphs. We wanted our logo to show you something different — a person.
Because that is who this is for.

Financial literacy should not be a privilege. Understanding a mortgage payment, knowing how compound interest works, or comparing loan types should not require a finance degree or an expensive advisor.
HitCalc exists to close that gap — one calculator at a time. Every tool we build is designed to not just give you a number but to help you understand what that number means and what you can do about it.

How it was built
HitCalc is a solo project built with Next.js and Tailwind CSS. What would have taken a traditional team months was built in weeks — because the goal was never to build a big company. It was to build something useful.
The entire site — calculator logic, 50 state pages with real property tax data, blog content, SEO schema markup, and deployment — was built by one person who started with a frustrating experience trying to understand their own mortgage payment.
